A Wine for the Southern California Coast
The grapes for this extraordinary wine are grown below the picturesque mountain village of Sambuca, not far from Lago Arancio, a D.O.C. growing region near Sicily's southern sea, the Mediterranean, famous for its Nero d'Avola and its Sangiovese. Cellaro of Sambuca creates this wine, modest in its tannins, that is rich in the raspberry and plum flavors of Nero d'Avola, Sicily's most ancient grape, at least 500 B.C. Sangiovese, the "Chianti grape" that predates Rome, brings pepper and black cherry to this unique blend. It is bottled for a year before release. Like all Italian wines, it is made for food and friendship and can be enjoyed with just about any of your favorite dishes. And, of course, the coast of Southern California is where you'll soon find this beautifully textured wine on everyone's table.
