Sicilian Wines Always Tastefully Complement Food
Perhaps too forcefully, Paul Cavallo is attempting to explain to another California wine buyer that all wines don’t necessarily have to taste like black cherry and licorice- flavored popsicles filled with alcohol. Some wines, particularly Sicilian, have less alcohol, more subtle flavors, and a paucity of sweetness, that is, more dry. As a result, Sicilian wines, especially the Nero d'Avola blends, tastefully complement food rather than dominate it by boasting, "Look at me! I'm big and sweet. I'm from California." That is to say, drinking Sicilian wine while eating food is one of the most beautiful, molto bella, Zen-like experiences one can have. And the price? As any Sicilian wine enthusiast will tell you--there is no comparison.
